Florence McGinn is the recipient of the Microsoft-sponsored Technology and Learning National Teacher award. She has received that honor’s New Jersey Teacher of the Year Award as well as its Eastern Region Teacher of the Year Award. She has been honored as Princeton University’s 1998 Distinguished Secondary School Educator. She has been appointed by US Secretary of Education Riley to serve on the National Commission for Net-based Education established by Congress in 1999. She is presently appointed to the PBS Advisory Panel for On-line Resources as well as to the Editorial Advisory Board of the Milken Foundation.

Mrs. McGinn’s pilot project work develops through support from grants from AT&T, Johnson & Johnson, Liberty Science Center, Lucent Technology, and the Hunterdon Foundation. Electric Soup, her high school’s on-line literary magazine, has received a NJ Best Educational Practices award, a NJ Association of School Curriculum award, and has been cited as one of NJ’s best web sites as well as one of the Ten Best Educational Sites on the Internet. Her classroom serves as a beta test site for Tegrity Corporation, ComWeb, and Global Knowledge Exchange. Mrs. McGinn is a published poet and teaches English at Hunterdon Central Regional High School in Flemington, New Jersey.
