Biographical Information:
Two years ago, media specialist Deborah Blizard opened a state-of-the-art media center and library at Jacksonville Commons Elementary School in Jacksonville. Since then she has transformed the school's students and staff into independent researchers and creative users of a vast array of new learning tools. Mrs. Blizard installs and maintains all of the school's hardware and software, provides technology training for students and staff and coordinates the school's Accelerated Reader program. She organizes book fairs and storytelling sessions, and publishes a monthly newsletter for parents and community members. Mrs. Blizard is the building leadership chairperson for the school's improvement plan and holds a seat on the county's Staff Development Advisory Council.Note: This biography was updated on
