Biographical Information:
Shirley Rosenkranz teaches an integrated English curriculum at Temple City High School in Los Angeles County. Her emphasis on developing her students' creative abilities has resulted in the publication of two full-length books written by students. It is her belief that "integrity, honesty, love of freedom, and dignity are the cornerstones" of interaction between teacher and student. Ms. Rosenkranz, who has been teaching for more than 20 years, was honored as the state's 1987 Teacher of the Year. In addition to her active participation in various professional and civic organizations, she has published many articles in professional journals and has written several teacher handbooks.Note: This biography was current at the time this educator received the Award
