Biographical Information

Susan Hennessey is the Professional Development Coordinator for the Tarrant Institute for Innovative Education at the University of Vermont. In this role she works with middle level teachers around the state providing graduate course work to support student-centered, technology-rich education. In 2007, when Susan received the Milken Award, she was the Library Media Specialist and former English teacher and Department Chair at Harwood Union Middle High School in South Duxbury, VT . She frequently collaborated with fellow teachers facilitating professional development opportunities including workshops and summer graduate courses focused on emerging technologies. In addition she taught courses in instructional design, technology integration, and English methods for the University of Vermont and Champlain College. As a Literacy Leader in the Vermont Professional Development Network, Susan works with the Vermont Department of Education to facilitate workshops aligning state standards and the new common core standards with best practices.
