Biographical Information:
Dr. Rex Bolinger is currently a senior fellow at the Sagamore Institute for Policy Research in Indianapolis. His primary duties include serving as executive director for Team HOPE (History Opens Eyes) (
www.roadmaptolastbesthope.com), a group of Milken Educators working to revolutionize the way American history is taught in schools and colleges across the nation. Team HOPE is advancing the work of Dr. William J. Bennett, former U.S. Secretary of Education. Dr. Bennett's books, America: The Last Best Hope, Vol. I, II & III, written as a novel with suspense, drama, romance, and intrigue, have captured the hearts of readers and brought excitement and interest to our heritage. Team HOPE has developed the online supplements for teachers and students, enhancing the teaching and learning process around these materials. Dr. Bolinger most recently developed an early-college high school in Indianapolis. He also served as the program manager for the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation in Princeton, New Jersey, where he helped create early-college high schools at universities in five states, in cooperation with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Prior to these assignments, Dr. Bolinger served as a teacher, high school principal and central office administrator in Indiana. As a high school principal, he led his school to recognition as a New American High School, awarded by the U.S. Department of Education. Additionally, Dr. Bolinger served on the National Commission for the High School Senior Year and continues to be a national leader in high school reform. He currently chairs the Indiana Association of Public Charter Schools. Dr. Bolinger received his undergraduate degree from Ball State University, a master’s degree from Purdue University, and a doctorate from Ball State University where he received the university’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 2003. He holds a school improvement specialist credential from the University of Nebraska. Dr. Bolinger resides with his wife, Dr. Ginger Studebaker-Bolinger in the Indianapolis area.
