Biographical Information

David Chia currently serves as consulting principal to novice principals and experienced principals new to Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), Maryland. He serves as a mentor, coach, trainer and confidant to principals with executive leadership development and organizational leadership & management. Previously, he was the principal at Wheaton Woods Elementary School (MCPS) and Rock Creek Forest Elementary School (MCPS). He also served as the English director at the New Generation Bilingual Christian Academy in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Mr. Chia has also served as principal intern at Burning Tree Elementary School (MCPS) and assistant principal at Weller Road Elementary School (MCPS). Before becoming an administrator, Mr. Chia served as the staff development teacher at Broad Acres Elementary School (MCPS) and taught third and fourth graders as a "looping" teacher at Georgian Forest Elementary School (MCPS). He has been a mentor teacher, technology trainer, Maryland Technology Academy Fellow and Fulbright Memorial Fund Fellow, and has written and received numerous grants. Honors include the Washington Post Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher Award, Montgomery County Teacher of the Year, Finalist for Maryland State Teacher of the Year, and American Immigration Law Foundation Immigrant Achievement Award.
