Biographical Information:Fred Myers is the Director of Science for the Glastonbury Public Schools in Glastonbury. Formerly he taught physics at Farmington High School in Farmington. He shared, "I am committed to making physics accessible to all students." To see this commitment through, Mr. Myers created Physics for the Family, an evening program for sixth-graders and their families. Since its inception nearly all the students in the 140 participating families have enrolled in ninth grade Honors Physics, and six other school districts have introduced the program in their communities. As a member of both the Farmington Science Resource Committee and the Connecticut High School Physics Teachers Institute, Mr. Myers worked on many fronts to increase interest, improve standards and introduce new methods in science education. Mr. Myers is a recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Teaching.Note: This biography was updated on 9/13/06
