James Ehmen recently retired after teaching sixth graders and middle school students at Janesville Consolidated School for 33 years. "I feel that the most important thing I have taught my students," says Mr. Ehmen, "is that learning is exciting and doesn't end when you leave high school." Reflecting that same attitude in his own life, Mr. Ehmen continues to teach pre-service students at the University of Northern Iowa. He hopes to generate interest in the next generation of teachers to continue some of the projects he felt relevant for middle level students.
