Biographical Information:

Alma Wright's first- and second-grade students are getting an early start in the application of technology at William Monroe Trotter Elementary School in Dorchester. Using Lego building blocks and a software program called "Lego Logo," Ms. Wright's students build toy cars whose movements they program into the computer. As the chair of the Trotter School's technology committee, Ms. Wright played a key role in the school's recent NetDay project. A 33-year veteran of education, Ms. Wright has taught a class for educators at MIT on using the Internet, and is currently involved in the Massachusetts Pre-Engineer Program (Mass PEP), which trains teachers to encourage young girls to become more interested in math and science.
