Biographical Information:
In her 30 years as an educator, Gwendolyn Lehman, who teaches theater arts, communication arts and psychology at Stephen Decatur High School in Berlin, has touched the lives of more than 3,000 students. In 1995, Mrs. Lehman supervised the construction of an outdoor Elizabethan-style theater at the school with funds raised by Mrs. Lehman and her drama students. The theater opened in 1996 with a student performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream. Mrs. Lehman also developed the Annual Children's Theater, which in 20 years has seen its audience grow from 500 to 6,000. In 1992, Mrs. Lehman adapted "Walls," her autobiographical novel about the plight of Jews in Nazi Germany, into a play.
