Biographical Information:
Dr. Jeff Gall is an associate professor of history and MAE (master of arts in education) director for social science at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri. Before teaching at the university, Dr. Gall was a history teacher at Lee's Summit North High School in Lee's Summit, Missouri. "If my students forget every historical fact I teach them, I hope they will at least remember the important lesson of respect for views different from their own," says Gall. Dr. Gall wrote and implemented the International Baccalaureate history programs at both Lee's Summit High School and at Lee's Summit North High School. He was the coordinator for the program, which was designed to offer a traditional liberal arts curriculum to students with superior analytical and communication skills. As a faculty member for the state-funded Missouri Scholars Academy at the University of Missouri from 1994 to 1997, Dr. Gall taught gifted high school juniors from all over the state. As chairperson of his school's Site-Based Team, Dr. Gall was instrumental in providing professional development programs to his colleagues. From 2004 to 2006, Dr. Gall served as dean of the Joseph Baldwin Academy, a program for gifted middle school students held on the Truman State University campus each summer. He recently authored
Missouri Our Home, a social studies textbook for fourth graders.
