Biographical Information:

Carol Juneau has been a member of the Montana House of Representatives since 1999. Describing her mission in the Montana Legislature, Juneau said, "I'm no politician. I consider myself an educator." Previously, she was director of the Stay in School program for the Browning Public Schools in Browning, which sought to reverse the high dropout rate among American Indian high school students. "I believe that if our students become better educated, we are going to have better communities to live in and raise our children and grandchildren in." From 1976 to 1983, Juneau worked towards the development of Blackfeet Community College, which has grown from a graduating class of six students into a fully accredited community college. "Let's not ask if they're going to college, but where they're going to college," she has said. Juneau was a 1993 recipient of the Montana Indian Education Association's Montana Indian Educator of the Year Award.
