Biographical Information:
James Barlow teaches social science at Aloha High School in Beaverton. Since 1964, and every four years thereafter, he has organized and administered the Model Presidential Nominating Convention - a widely acclaimed simulation of the actual Presidential nominating conventions. As many as 4,000 high school students from four states take part in the simulation, and students who lead it often train for two to three years prior to the event. A former president of the Oregon Council of Social Studies, his professional awards reflect a distinguished career: The Governor's Award for Excellence in Education, the J. Young Arthur Award, the National Council for the Social Studies Spirit of America Award, the Spirit of the Northwest Award, and Rotary International Teacher of the Year.Note: This biography was updated on
