Picture about 30 high school students forming a human arch similar to what we sometimes see at the beginning of basketball games.  Then imagine how it would sound to hear them chanting a teacher’s name and not stopping until their favorite teacher would run through the gauntlet accompanied by their cheers and exuberance. That is what happened today at Gulfport High School in Gulfport, Mississippi.  Why do students at Gulfport take four years of science including electives such as Physics and AP Physics?  Not because it is easy, but because of Scott Pfaff, a teacher who makes learning the hard sciences fun, relevant, and even something we understand and will remember.  Mr. Pfaff’s students will also remember the day their teacher was recognized with the Milken Award.  One student expressed their thoughts about the announcement simply and beautifully when she just said, “Thank you.”
