Learning in a Digital Age: Insights into the Issues
The Skills Students Need for Technological Fluency

by Kathleen Fulton

1/23/98 | The Milken Exchange has identified a range of key policy and implementation questions regarding education technology, including: Is there a set of necessary skills that define student technological fluency? What kinds of technological skills must teachers develop as schools acquire more technology to support instruction and management? What public policy actions are necessary and effective in bringing education technology into schools and classrooms?

Learning in a Digital Age: Insights into the Issues examines the above questions. This publication outlines the complex nature of the term "student technology skills," including definition, acquisition, and assessment. It is useful for everyone committed to helping school systems develop the curriculum, instruction, and assessment methods that will better prepare young people for the technological age.
