Progress of Technology in the Schools: Report on 27 States

by Lewis C. Solmon, Judith A. Wiederhorn

6/21/00 | In response to the lack of accurate and current state-by-state data regarding school technology, the Milken Family Foundation completed its second annual Survey of Technology in the Schools during the 1998-1999 academic year. In this report, we present the results of the survey.

Thirty-two states responded to the survey, with 27 states providing us with data representative of the demographics of their states. Our results compare districts from individual states to an aggregation of all responding districts. We also compare the results of 12 states that participated in both this survey and last year’s survey.

This 105-page report, released in June of 2000, includes the following states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Utah, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming. We also include sections on Chicago Public Schools and the Department of Defense Education Activity.
