Meet Morris Vanegas, MS '08
2008 Milken Scholar, Morris Vanegas, is a true Renaissance Man. He graduated from the California Academy of Mathematics and Science in Carson having compiled laurels in math, science, and history, as well as earning recognition as a National Hispanic Scholar and National Honor Society Member. After entering the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the fall of 2008 to study astronautical engineering, Morris continues to further broaden his horizon.

Beginning medicine. Tsung Mou, MS ’07, and Manav Sidhu, MS ’06, will be half way through their first terms at medical school. Tsung attends the University of Illinois Chicago College of Medicine, and Manav is attending New York University School of Medicine.
Close finish. The 2011 Veolia World Solar Challenge, a 3,000 km solar car race in Australia, has wrapped up. Wyles Vance, MS ’07and the Stanford Solar Car Team placed 11th out of 37 teams from around the world. Congratulations to Stanford for a great race.
Raising Scores. This summer Eileen Ung, MS ’10, helped to found and teach an SAT preparation course and the results were overwhelmingly positive, as the average score improvement was 240 points.
New leadership. Allan Sahagun, MS ’05, has taken over for Kim Foo Chow, MS ’96, as the National Chairman of the Milken Scholars Alumni Association. Kim Foo did an outstanding job during his term and Allan will only continue the trend.
International Finance. This fall Khalilah Karim, MS ’01, and Rashan Jibowu, MS ’02, began their advanced education at the University of Pennsylvania’s prestigious Wharton Business School.
