Our second stop on October 18, 2017, was Slaton Junior High School, where we surprised TAP Master Teacher Katie Negen with a 2017-18 Texas Milken Educator Award. Katie has spent her entire career in the Slaton district. "We're a family here in Slaton ISD," she said. "I've had opportunities to go other places, but Slaton feels like home."
