How did third grade teacher Liz Barnum feel when Lowell called her name at Katherine Dunn Elementary? "Absolutely dumbfounded," she told us after her Milken Award surprise on February 7, 2023. Her classroom buzzes with activity and excitement as students lead discussions, take risks, and work together to reach their potential. "I love being a part of my students' lives, as much as they are of mine," Liz says. "They always have a huge impact on me."
There was one very special student in the audience: Liz's daughter Gabby, a Katherine Dunn kindergartener. It's not every day you get to see your mom honored like a movie star or top athlete in front of the whole school!
