For Bill Smithyman's English Language Arts students, getting a B is a badge of honor. But they adore him all the same, lining up outside his door after class to ask for help with assignments, college essays and applications. Former students routinely say Smithyman prepared them well for their academic careers and that he's the reason they feel competent, competitive and confident in their college English classes and beyond.
