Media Advisory: Milken Institute Global Conference to Tackle Education Reform Solutions in U.S. and Abroad

April 23, 2013

WHAT:

In a fast-paced global economy where education drives economic, civic and social progress, the U.S., China, India and Israel have launched initiatives to ensure that all graduates are college-and-career ready. On Monday, April 29, at 10:45 a.m. at the Beverly Hilton, Lowell Milken—chairman of the Milken Family Foundation and National Institute for Excellence in Teaching (NIET)—will lead international experts as they explore effective strategies that address access to schooling, teacher quality and accountability, student motivation, instructional programs, technology and early-childhood education.

NIET Chief Executive Officer Jason Culbertson will participate on a panel of education leaders on Wednesday, May 1, at 10:00 a.m., to examine proven models for teacher evaluation and ways that the new Common Core State Standards can be incorporated into efforts that improve teacher and student performance.

Equipped with a diverse staff experienced in education and business, combined with a broad coalition of school practitioners, NIET forges relationships with states, districts and schools to attract, develop, support and retain high-quality human capital in order to raise achievement levels for all students. Through its two signature initiatives, TAP: The System for Teacher and Student Advancement and the Best Practices Center, NIET is reaching more than 100,000 teachers and one million students.
